The University of Alabama spring commencement ceremonies will be taking place between Friday, May 2, and Sunday, May 4.

Newsweek reported:

University of Alabama website says its spring commencement ceremonies will take place between Friday, May 2, and Sunday, May 4.

West Point’s website states: “Graduation at the U.S. Military Academy entails more than one ceremony on a single day. Graduation Week and Commencement are filled with events to recognize senior cadets for 47-months of hard work. In their last week prior to becoming commissioned officers, cadets engage in a number of events and festivities.”

It is not the first time that Trump will address West Point graduates — he previously delivered the commencement speech in 2020 during his first term as president.

Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88.

He died at his residence.

Breitbart reported:

Pope Francis has died, the Vatican announced early Monday morning in Rome. He was 88.

The first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic faithful led the Catholic Church for 12 years, having been elevated to the role in March 2013 following the historic resignation of his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI.

Francis recently left Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he was admitted on February 14 after having difficulty breathing. A serious bout of double pneumonia was diagnosed as the cause.

He died at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta.

Donald Trump ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Pope Francis.

Confidence in Democrat leadership has sunk to a new low.

According to a new poll, the confidence rating for Democrat leadership has hit 25%.

Republican leadership is at 39%.

Fox News reported:

Confidence in the Democratic Party’s congressional leadership has sunk to an all-time low, according to a new national poll.

The confidence rating for Democratic leadership in Congress stands at 25% in a Gallup poll conducted April 1-14 and released on Thursday. That’s nine points below the previous low of 34%, which was recorded in 2023.

According to Gallup, confidence in Republican congressional leadership stands at 39%, which is well above the 24% low hit in 2014.

The most recent Rasmussen poll found Donald Trump with a 51% approval rating.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 35% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 38% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -3.

The Democrats are in trouble!

Trump said, “Moving forward, career government employees, working on policy matters, will be classified as “Schedule Policy/Career,” and will be held to the highest standards of conduct and performance.”

The regulations for civil service employees “with important policy-determining, policy-making, policy-advocating, or confidential duties” will now be considered “at-will” employees, “without access to cumbersome adverse action procedures or appeals, overturning Biden Administration regulations that protected poor performing employees.”

Maryland Democrat U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen met with deported illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia in his native El Salvador on Thursday where he gazed deeply, lovingly and closely in the eyes of the accused wife-beater and MS-13 gang member.

Van Hollen, who flew to El Salvador this week with the goal of meeting Abrego Garcia and bringing him back to Maryland from the CECOT prison (Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo) where he is being held after being deported by the Trump administration. Van Hollen had been rebuffed in earlier attempts this week to meet with Abrego Garcia.

Abrego Garcia had settled in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., after illegally entering the U.S. over a decade ago. He has been found by an immigration court and appeals court to be a gang member of MS-13. He was deported to El Salvador last month despite an immigration court barring his return there as part of the Trump administration’s campaign to deport Central and South American gang members following President Trump’s designation of them as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The administration says the FTO designation negates the order barring his return to El Salvador.
