This comes after Trump told reporters he was moving towards direct talks with Putin.

AP reported:

President Donald Trump said Friday he’s moving to set up direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as he can, after Putin opted to skip peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey.

“I think it’s time for us to just do it,” Trump told reporters as he wrapped a four-day visit to the Middle East.

Trump later told reporters after boarding Air Force One to begin the journey back to Washington that he may call Putin soon.

“He and I will meet, and I think we’ll solve it or maybe not,” Trump said. “At least we’ll know. And if we don’t solve it, it’ll be very interesting.”

Donald Trump has revealed that a US nuclear deal proposal has been sent to Iran.

Trump said, “Yeah they have a proposal, but more importantly, they know they have to move quickly or something bad, something bad is going to happen.”

Fox News reported:

President Donald Trump said Friday that the U.S. has given Iran a proposal for a nuclear deal.

“Yeah they have a proposal, but more importantly, they know they have to move quickly or something bad, something bad is going to happen,” Trump said.

The proposal was given during the fourth round of negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Reuters reported:

The Trump administration gave Iran a proposal for a nuclear deal during the fourth round of negotiations on Sunday, a U.S. official and two other sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Axios.

But a senior Iranian official said Tehran had not received any fresh proposal from the United States to resolve the decades-long nuclear dispute, adding that Iran would never compromise on its right to enrich uranium on its soil.

Though Tehran and Washington have both said they prefer diplomacy to resolve the dispute, they remain divided on several red lines that negotiators will have to circumvent to reach a new deal and avert future military action.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments on challenges to Donald Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to intervene.

Fox News reported:

The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Thursday on a challenge to President Donald Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship, and crucially, whether lower courts that have blocked Trump’s policies from taking force nationwide have acted beyond their authority.

Any decision from the 6–3 conservative majority could have sweeping implications for Trump’s presidency as his lawyers spar against an onslaught of lawsuits in federal courts nationwide.

The Supreme Court arguments are expected to focus on lower court judges in Maryland, Massachusetts and Washington state who issued “universal” injunctions against Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order earlier this year.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court in March to intervene and limit the scope of three lower court rulings to cover only individuals directly impacted by the relevant courts (or potentially, the 22 states that challenged Trump’s executive order). But that’s unlikely to be the primary theme at the center of Thursday’s high-profile debate.

Americans are starting to feel better about their personal finances.

A new poll found that 31% of voters feel their finances are getting better while 31% also say their finances are getting worse.

This is a big increase from the last time the poll was taken when 41% said that their finances were getting worse

Following the announcement of the trade agreement with China, optimism about personal finances has soared to a four year high. A Napolitan News survey conducted Monday and Tuesday found that 31% of voters say their personal finances are getting better and 31% say worse.

That’s up significantly from two weeks ago when 25% said better and 36% said worse.

In our last survey before the 2024 presidential election just 25% said their personal finances were getting better, while 41% said worse.

Prior to this release, every survey since July 2021 has been net negative– more people saying their finances are getting worse than better.

April’s inflation numbers came in less than expected.

CNN reported:

US inflation slowed to its lowest rate in more than four years, an unexpected and welcome development at a time when President Donald Trump’s dramatically escalated tariffs are expected to cause prices to rise.

Consumer prices rose 0.2% last month, bringing the annual inflation rate to 2.3%, an unexpectedly cooler reading than the 2.4% increase seen in March, according to the latest Consumer Price Index data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It’s the lowest annual rate since February 2021, and the April data was slightly better than expected. Economists expected that the CPI would rise 0.3% from March and hold steady at 2.4% for the 12 months ended in April, according to FactSet.

Secret Service is investigating after a social media post made by James Comey.

Comey posted a photo of seashells that were arranged as “86 47” along with the caption “cool shell formation on my beach walk.”

Fox News wrote, “While to some people the numbers may appear innocuous, “86” is frequently used as a call sign for murdering or getting rid of someone, while “47” has been interpreted as denoting the 47th President of the United States.”

The Secret Service is investigating after ex-FBI Director James Comey posted an Instagram photo of seashells arranged to make the numbers “86 47” — a message that White House officials swiftly condemned as an attempt to put out a “hit” against the 47th president.

Comey later deleted the post after online backlash from government officials, lawmakers and President Donald Trump’s son. Trump has faced two assassination attempts — one of which resulted in him being shot and a bystander being killed — in the past year.

The post including the alleged “hit” showed the numbers in question etched into the sand at a beach using seashells. “Cool shell formation on my beach walk…” Comey captioned the Thursday post. While to some people the numbers may appear innocuous, “86” is frequently used as a call sign for murdering or getting rid of someone, while “47” has been interpreted as denoting the 47th President of the United States.

Comey posted, “I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message. I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down”

A Colorado Abortion Clinic shut down after being open for 50 years.

The clinic was infamous for providing late-term abortions.

Breitbart reported:

A Colorado clinic infamous for late-term abortions has shuttered after 50 years of being open, Associated Press reported.

“It became impossible to continue, but closing is one of the most painful decisions of my life,” 87-year-old clinic founder and late-term abortionist Dr. Warren Hern said of closing the Boulder Abortion Clinic last month.

The clinic was one of the few in the U.S. that aborted unborn babies after 28 weeks of pregnancy, and for years, Hern was the only abortionist in the U.S. who performed abortions later in pregnancy, according to the report.

The clinic ultimately closed because of financial issues: Hern said many women had difficulty paying for $10,000 late-term abortions, which are often not covered by insurance, and said the number of longtime personal donors was also decreasing, the report states. He said he hoped someone would take over his practice, but no one ever did.

In an Atlantic article from 2023, Dr. Warren Hern discussed providing late-term abortions.

The Atlantic wrote, “Hern, though, believes that the viability of a fetus is determined not by gestational age but by a woman’s willingness to carry it.”

Reminder: late-term abortions aren’t “rare.”

Hern, though, believes that the viability of a fetus is determined not by gestational age but by a woman’s willingness to carry it. He applies the same principle to all of his prospective patients: If he thinks it’s safer for them to have an abortion than to carry and deliver the baby, he’ll take the case—usually up until around 32 weeks, with some rare later exceptions, because of the increased risk of hemorrhage and other life-threatening conditions beyond that point.

The US is cutting defense ties with Cuba.

The US certified that Cuba has not fully cooperated with counterterrorism efforts.

Fox News reported:

The U.S. State Department has determined and certified Cuba as a “not fully cooperating country” (NFCC) for not helping with counterterrorism efforts after the island nation failed to turn over at least 11 fugitives in 2024 to U.S. custody.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce made the announcement on Tuesday that the certification, which falls under Section 40A of the Arms Export Control Act, will result in the prohibition on the sale or license for export of defense services to Cuba.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio not only certified Cuba as an NFCC, he also re-certified Iran, Syria, Venezuela and North Korea as NFCCs.

In January, the Biden administration lifted Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, reversing a move made by the Trump administration in 2021.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a press release, “This certification results in a prohibition on the sale or license for export of defense articles and services to Cuba.”

In 2024, the Cuban regime did not fully cooperate with the United States on counterterrorism.  There were at least 11 U.S. fugitives from justice in Cuba, including several facing terrorism-related charges, and the Cuban regime made clear it was not willing to discuss their return to face justice in our nation.  The Cuban regime’s refusal to engage on this important issue, as well as other recent circumstances of non-cooperation on terrorism-related law enforcement matters, made efforts to cooperate on counterterrorism issues futile in 2024.

The Trump administration is showing strength on the world stage. 

Inflation rose less than expected in April.

The consumer price index rose 0.2% less than the .3% that was expected.

Breitbart reported:

U.S. inflation edged up in April, less than forecast, defying predictions that tariffs would push prices up at a faster rate.

The consumer price index rose 0.2 compared with the previous month, the Department of Labor said Tuesday. Economists had forecast a 0.3 percent increase following a 0.1 percent decline in March.

Compared with a year ago, consumer prices are up 2.3 percent.

Core prices, a measure that excludes food and energy prices, rose 0.2 [ercent compared with March. Over the past 12 months, core prices are up 2.8 percent.

Economists had forecast core prices to rise 0.3 percent, up from 0.1 percent reported in March.

This puts the 12-month rate at 2.3%.

CNBC reported:

The consumer price index, which measures the costs for a broad range of goods and services, rose 0.2% for the month, putting the 12-month inflation rate at 2.3%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. The monthly reading was in line with the Dow Jones consensus estimate and slightly below the annual forecast for 2.4%.

Excluding volatile food and energy prices, core CPI also increased 0.2% for the month, while the year-over-year level was 2.8%. The forecast was for 0.3% and 2.8% respectively.

The media’s narrative was wrong again.

According to a new book, Original Sin, Biden advisers discussed him possibly having to use a wheelchair if he was re-elected.

The book was written by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.

The book claims that Biden was told by his physician that if he fell again, he might have to use a wheelchair.

Axios reported:

Joe Biden’s physical deterioration was so severe in 2023 and 2024 that advisers privately discussed the possibility he’d need to use a wheelchair if he won re-election, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson write in their new book, “Original Sin,” out May 20.

The conversations also reveal the White House’s determination to conceal the reality of Biden’s condition, at the risk of his own health, while he faced a tough re-election bid against Donald Trump.

Biden aides believed it was politically untenable to have Biden use a wheelchair during his re-election campaign.

“Given Biden’s age, [his physician Kevin O’Connor] also privately said that if he had another bad fall, a wheelchair might be necessary for what could be a difficult recovery,” the authors report.

This further exposes how Biden aides covered up Joe Biden’s declining health.

CNN reported:

The details help illustrate how the team around Biden took steps to try to protect him during his reelection bid, including finding shorter walking paths to stages, adding handrails to any steps and using a smaller staircase to board Air Force One, the authors report. Biden’s team had insisted that he was up for a second term until his disastrous June 2024 debate performance against Donald Trump, which led to him dropping out of the race three weeks later.

Aides began walking with Biden across the White House lawn to the Marine One helicopter not just to block the visual of his walk — but also in case he fell, according to Axios.

Tapper and Thompson report that Biden began forgetting names, staring blankly at people he’d known for well over a decade, and became more disoriented and incoherent when he was fatigued.
